"A few months ago I was in the early stages of working on a Mos Def mix. One Sunday night I heard this mix while listening to the World Famous Wake Up Show and decided that I should begin to work on something else."

"The Dynamic Hamza 21 said...

DJ Raichous mentioned on her blog she couldn't get a drop from Mos Def for this mix (Not enough connects). But now she performed with Mos in NYC last Saturday.

funny how things work out."

The Post-Apollo era

East Village Radio NY tonight.

The Apollo was amazing. Just surreal. Really. I shall elaborate in the next post when pictures are readily available.

As for now, please tune in (here) tonight to East Village Radio for The Main Ingredient from midnight-2am EST (9pm-12am PST) with Jon Oliver, a good friend of my dear RRS Feed partner Shred One. I'll be dropping a nice little set for you folks who missed the Iman @ the Apollo show. This way, you can all be a part of my NY experience.

Also this weekend Kidragon introduced me to a very significant man in the Hiphop, DJing, and the digging game: Danny Dan the Beat Man, the man behind the infamous Dusty Fingers series. That vinyl series introduced the realm of digging rare grooves & breaks to so many DJs including myself. I recall inheriting my first issue Vol. 1 from my brother's collection in high school with Dorothy Ashby's "The Windmills of Your Mind." I was pulled in like a fish on a hook. This man is a walking music encyclopedia and beyond. That's all I can really say for now. Just, wow.

And for the puppy followers:

Xochi, at a few weeks old.

Look Xochi! They named a salsa after you :)

Optical Overdose.

Really bummed I missed this Brainfeeder event in LA. But at least there's YouTube to make me feel better about it...or worse, depending on how you look at it.

Nueva York.

So I'm getting ready for NY this weekend and decided to hit up a couple of my favorite thrift stores near me to find any puffy jackets with a faux-fur hood. You know, what you're supposed to wear in NY. Maybe a beanie with a bill, tan Timberlands, gold bamboo earrings with my street name in the middle, and a pair of tight Baby Phat jeans? Let's just start with puffy jacket first. Anyway, I didn't find one. BUT I did find this awesome travel jewelry case. Maybe I can get those personalized bamboo earrings after all...

That being said... NEW YORK, HERE I COME BABY!

And for the puppy followers: Xochi made a new friend, Tiffany. They like to dress alike.

Thankful.

So the RRS is driving back up to LA after a dope night in SD at Bar Dynamite with DJs Beatnick, Bency, and Sovereign-T. Just reflecting on this whole experience, I'm so thankful to have been put in this position with these beautiful people surrounding me. It's been nothing but good vibes, good music, good practice, good people, good building, and did I mention good vibes? As RRS develops its rhythm and craft, it's been more of a blessing just bringing people closer together. Especially in this spirited time of the year. So for that I'm thankful. Yay.

If you haven't already, please check out our site www.therrsfeedsound.com. We have some upcoming shows in the works, plans for a mixtape, and be on the look out for a regular monthly dose of the feed.
